Corelli strings for cellos

1 - Corelli string for cello, wound on steel/ Set Ref. 480 and 480C

The Corelli cello strings wound on steel have been regularly improved over the years within the framework of our continuous commitment to research. Today, their reliability is totally confirmed and their acoustic qualities, appraised from the beginning, have been further increased. They offer a pure clear sound, without aggressiveness, easy response, and perfect balance of all the 4 strings.

Important: shorter C-string

There are some precautions to take while setting the C-string. If the metal wrapped portion (the portion not covered with the red silk) comes over the tuning peg, the string will break. While improving the solidity, we have increased the length of the flexible part of the string covered with the red silk, which has considerably limited the risk.
However there remain a few cases thereby a shorter C-string is requested. It is the case of full sized instruments that have special dimensions, or when the tailpiece is especially near to the bridge. Taking into account the case of these very few instruments, we offer a shorter C-string available under Ref. 484C (individual string) or in set 480C (composed with standard A-, D-,G-strings and shorter C-string).

See sketches to view how to proceed in order to avoid the string from breaking while setting it.

3 - Shortly: Corelli Alliance strings for cello, wound on Alliance KF composite

Encouraged by the success of the Corelli Alliance strings for violin and viola and to meet with the demand from many cello players, we have developed prototypes which should lead to the achievement of Corelli Alliance strings for cello.

While using the KF composite fibres that have the same density and elasticity than gut, the manufacturing process has enabled us to produce a flexible string that gives the same feeling under bow than a gut string.

The string is easy playing with a quick response. It also offers the sounding qualities that are found in gut strings and in addition an enriched tone comparable to the tone of a steel string.

The positive results of the tests made by professionals with the prototypes let us think that we are on the edge of being successful in achieving a definite string.
